Look Blue Go Purple were: Denise Roughan - guitar, vocals; Lesley Paris - drums; Kath Webster - guitar, vocals; Kathy Bull - bass; Norma O'Malley - keyboards, flute, guitar, vocals. For all that they were five women, though, they weren't A Girl Group, with all the connotations that description would imply. This group were actual musicians and songwriters.

Their best known song is probably Cactus Cat, but I like this next one, Circumspect Penelope, better. It's a live recording: the video isn't up on You Tube, but is available on the "Second Season" DVD, and the song itself is available on the compilation CD "Look Blue Go Purple Compilation".

LBGP memory

Remember them playing the University Union - 1989-ish... AFTER Orientation, probably mid-year. Melodic - with a kick-ass attitude to hecklers.

I think it was the last gig I went to at the University: usually went to other watering-holes (or that late-lamented place in which I introduced you to the VERY long sandwiches) after that
