Calling Top Gear "a show about cars" is a bit like calling The Goodies "a show about bicycles".

Hmmm. The comment might have made more sense if I'd known what 'The Goodies' is. I do watch 'Top Gear'! (And I don't even think much of cars.)

Was great fun to watch back in the 1970s... Kitten Kong (as seen in the icon, above) is from a famous early episode.

Edit: let's see if this link works...

So... Someone ELSE remembers "The Funky Gibbon" from "The Goodies: Almost Live"...

Memo to self: introduce the commentator immediately above, to the Goodies' greatest hits CD the next time he visits Invercargill...

There was a biography (actually an autobiography) of one William Oddie at Page & Blackmore's (my fave non-franchised bookshop) when I went in yesterday morning... Across the front of it (in what appears to be red lipstick, blood, whatever...) is "This is not a Goodies book..."

I left with a volume of essays by Umberto Eco: but there is a strong possibility I'll get the aforementioned book this week (as I want discographical and other details of the Goodies' recorded oeuvre...)
Some things never change...
