[Current Location |Invercargill (Not Gore)]
[mood |amusedamused]
[music |Scorched Earth Policy - "Turn Your Eyes Away"]

... Yesterday, the sub-editors for the local paper * gave an article about a dog attack on some sheep, just out of Gore, the following heading:
Second dog attack at Gore leaves four more sheep dead; council has no leads
It is not stated whether the Gore District Council enquired at any of the local rural supply stores before proclaiming themselves to have none...

* The Southland Times, which has outsourced its sub-editing to Somewhere Overseas. Can't remember where, but probably Mumbai, which makes the pun all the less likely to have been deliberate...

Sub-eds at The Times

Can promise you that all local news is sub-edited in-house in the ST office in Esk St. Business, world and feature pages are subbed in either Wellington or Chch. Having met some of the subs, I would say that was a deliberate attempt at humour. Regards.
