It was thirty years ago this year

... that AK79 was released. It was a decent look at the Auckland punk rock scene of the time, but one of the six groups featured on the compilation didn't quite fit. While most of the album featured either snotty adolescent punks (the Scavengers, the Terrorways, Proud Scum) or the more mature but still abrasive early post-punks (Toy Love, the Swingers), the Primmers were more part of the late 1970s ska revival than anything else.

This in itself wouldn't have been a problem, but the songs in question were also fairly ordinarily produced, which in the Primmers' case made them sound rather bland.

This live recording of one of them, You're Gonna Get Done, found on You Tube a while back (and unearthed again now because I'm clearing up a bit of a backlog of things to do), has no such problem. It's a good one.
