[music |Ritchie Venus and the Blue Beetles - "You Don't Own Me"]

A decent part of the entertainment of watching a Ritchie Venus and the Blue Beetles video is seeing the comments of people who aren't quite sure what to make of the goings on. The best one on tonight's video is "You just carved a new niche in my nightmares, thanks."

As far as availability goes: the only Ritchie Venus recording I've ever managed to locate on a plastic medium is "Bleeding Heart". Everything else is lost in the dim and distant past.

This video is the definition of no-budget.

The scary bit? Compared with some of the videos I've been putting up this month, it looks professional. (Cheap, but professional).

There are several levels of irony involved in the video (and the performance)... Ritchie Venus (a pseudonym) is a rock'n'roll fan and occasional Elvis impersonator whose peer group is a much more underground/alternative bunch of musicians than this performance would imply. The bass player (seen here looking away from the camera most of the time) is the same person who plays bass on the Scorched Earth Policy video of a couple of days ago (now that one does look ultra-cheap - and it was on an actually professionally released videotape!) and keyboards on the Terminals live footage from earlier this month.
