Thatcher [Apr. 9th, 2013|08:49 pm]
[mood |blahblah]

It's long overdue that I actually type something up here - I find it difficult to believe that it's been almost four months since I last had anything to say worth saying.

Anyway, Thatcher. I've already said anything I could possibly say about her at a more appropriate time - i.e. when she was still alive. All I can add now is that, a few years ago, a commentator said of New Zealand's then Prime Minister that she was "no Margaret Thatcher". Since then, I've been using that as a textbook example of "praising with faint damnation".

{Chuckle, Smile}

that is a cute phrase. {Smile}

It's good to see you again. I've missed you. How have you been? {Smile}

Well, there's plenty of examples of 'damning with faint praise', but it's rare to find the reverse at all, never mind so clearly and obviously expressed.

Have been reasonable health wise, but extremely busy due to complete and utter insanity at work. We have a bean-counter who thinks that 'any old thing a lawyer tells him' is more authoritative than 'what is actually on the land title' when it comes to matters of who owns which section of land. This is going to end up biting work somewhere painful if it doesn't get nipped in the bud, but the bean-counter just isn't listening to sense at the moment.

Good point about "praising with faint damnation." {SMILE}

I'm glad to hear your health is good, at least. Now if your work would stop trying to give you high blood pressure... {Sympathetic Smile}
